Privacy Policy

Gargloo is designed so that your files stay on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means, and covers the few cases where any data leaves your browser at all. The business entity operating this site is: To be completed before public launch — legal entity name.

The short version

• File tools (images, PDFs) process your documents locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers.
• We don't require accounts, and we never ask for personal information to use a tool.
• We don't sell data, because we don't collect meaningful data in the first place.
• Optional, cookieless analytics run only with your consent, and only count aggregate tool usage.

Files you process

When you compress an image or split a PDF on Gargloo, the work happens inside your own browser tab using standard web technology (Canvas APIs and JavaScript/WASM libraries). The file is read from disk into memory by your browser and written back out as a download — it does not travel over the network. When you close or reload the tab, that memory is released.

We can't see your files even if we wanted to: there is no upload step to intercept.

What we store locally on your device

To make the product nicer without accounts, your browser stores a few small things:

• Your theme preference (light / dark / system).
• Recently used tools and favorited tools.
• Your analytics consent choice.
• A local log of recent tool events (kept for you only; never transmitted).

These live in localStorage under names beginning with ff. Clearing site data removes all of them.

Analytics

If — and only if — you press "Allow anonymous stats" in the consent banner, we load a cookieless analytics script (Plausible) that records aggregate page views and simple events such as which tool was used. This contains no personal identifiers, no file contents and no file names. If you decline, nothing is sent.

Advertising

If advertising is enabled on this site, ads are served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies subject to its own policies, and applicable law may require consent first — the consent banner governs that too. Server logs

Like essentially all websites, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. We do not use them to profile individuals, and they are not linked to tool usage.

Children's privacy

The service is directed at a general audience and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or higher local thresholds).

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal data, there is generally nothing to export or delete. If you believe otherwise — for example via an email you sent us — contact us and we'll honor GDPR/CCPA requests promptly.
