Frequently asked questions
Does compressing a JPG reduce its resolution?
No. By default the pixel dimensions stay identical — only the encoding changes. Optionally enable resizing if you also want fewer pixels.
Is EXIF data like GPS location kept?
No. Re-encoding strips metadata including EXIF, GPS coordinates and camera information. That is usually a privacy bonus — use the Metadata Remover if stripping data is your main goal.
Do my photos leave my computer?
No. JPG compression happens entirely on your device — the file never leaves your browser.
